Which Film Trailer Leaks Have Whetted Your Appetite for 2012
This year's summer blockbuster season may only just be getting into full swing, but already movie buffs are gearing up for 2012's big releases in the wake of recent leaks of big film trailers.Clearly the days of keeping movies under wraps are long gone - thanks to camera phones, YouTube and the ever-growing use of teaser clips in film marketing, Hollywood secrets seldom stay under the radar for long.Even if, like the Twilight crew, you cover the set in umbrellas. So as Harry Potter and Transformers continue to do the business at the box office this summer, anticipation for some of next summer's blockbusters is already reaching fever pitch levels. Here's a handful of 2012's must-see movies. The Dark Knight Rises The third and final instalment in Christopher Nolan's Batman series will see Christian Bale reprise his role as the caped crusader, with Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman also returning.Franchise newcomer Tom Hardy looks set to steal the show as villain Bane - he's got enough unhinged intellectualism off-screen to pull off the part, let alone when playing real-life monsters like Charles Bronson.Anne Hathaway's portrayal of Catwoman is also set to have teenage boys purring.Admittedly, they've got a mountain to climb if they are to top the late Heath Ledger's turn as the Joker in 2008's the Dark Knight - but all the signs are indicating that Nolan has saved the best for last in his franchise trilogy. The Amazing Spider-Man Considering the glowing reviews Tobey Maguire received for his portrayal of the web-slinging college student in Sam Raimi's relatively recent trilogy, Andrew Garfield has perhaps the most unenviable task of next summer's blockbuster stars. However, his strong supporting role in The Social Network and Never Let Me Go suggests that he possesses the requisite nerdy charm to make the role of Peter Parker/Spider-Man his own.The Avengers In a superhero-heavy summer, The Avengers will also be vying for audiences' attention - but with Iron Man, Captain America and Thor all appearing in this comic book crossover, expectations are high.Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and Chris Hemsworth will all reprising their roles from previous Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, while Scarlett Johansson and Samuel L Jackson make this the movie to beat for 2012 in terms of ensemble action.Prometheus Fans of the iconic Aliens series will be eagerly awaiting this sci-fi thriller from Ridley Scott.Originally intended as a prequel to the first movie in the series, 1979's Alien, it has since evolved to explore a standalone story - we'll be keeping our eyes trained on film news sites for updates on the possible return of the dreaded stomach-bursters.Keep checking for the latest film trailers.
